BARK is a Survival Horror Video Game by vano.

Dogs seem to have it made, don't they? No job, no bills, no burdens, just eat whatever your owner gives you and love them unconditionally.

If only all dogs had it so good.

The game casts you as a Jack-Russel puppy with a monster of an owner. You can do all the things a dog likes to do around the house: bark at cats, play with toys, eat food. However, be wary that you still have an owner who doesn't take kindly to loud noises. If you bother him too much, he'll come for you, and not with petting and treats.

Keep strong, though. There may be a chance to escape before you know it.

The game was released on September 26th, 2022, and can be found on Steam.

BARK contains examples of:

  • 100% Completion: Finding and eating all five treats in each level.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Your owner will throw you if he finds you.
  • Downer Ending: It's implied that the dog dies at the very end after finally escaping his owner.
  • Fade to Black: The game does this whenever you go to sleep.
  • Fat Bastard: Your owner is a very portly man... who is not very friendly to you.
  • Interface Screw: You may have to put up with hallucinations and involuntary actions caused by startling sounds.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: Your owner's eyes have no pupils. This is likely a design choice to emphasize his scariness in the dog's eyes.
  • Multiple Endings: There are three possible endings you can achieve in this game, with only one of them being the "real" ending depending on how you progress through the final chapter and how many treats you collect.
  • One-Word Title: Well, considering the fact that the game is called "BARK".
  • P.O.V. Cam: The game is viewed through the eyes of a puppy.
  • Reduced to Ratburgers: You can find dead animals around the house to eat. They'll make the puppy sick, but he's still able to eat them.
  • Shout-Out: On the side of the rocking chair in your owner's room, there's a pink moustache with "WARFCORP" written underneath it. Also on the bottom side of the toilet there's a familiar face and logo saying Jackseptic.
  • Voice of the Legion: Your owner's voice sounds like multiple different people to make him scarier.
