Video Game / A Turnabout With Too Many Faces

Go To

Four perfect strangers awaken in an empty hotel. Trapped in a snowstorm, forgotten by the living and pitied by the dead, they are guided by the strange voice on the vinyl. It appears they've found themselves in a game. The rules are simple. Frankly, they couldn't be simpler. In four days, they shall be released. There is only one instruction they must follow: "Do not kill anyone."

A Turnabout With Too Many Faces is a fan-made work of the Ace Attorney series. It was created using the Ace Attorney Online trial editor, as an entry for the trial competition Broken Commandments hosted on the website.

The author of the case is DWaM, an author of many other trials.

This fan case provides examples of:

  • 11th-Hour Ranger: Edgeworth appears just before the last segment of the case to assist Phoenix in clearing his name.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Klavier Gavin is much more of a jerk here, having lots of glee in seeing Phoenix go to jail for the robbery. It's because Sam has been whispering in his head. He's back to normal after Edgeworth scolds him for his actions and Sam is defeated and arrested.
  • Addled Addict: Desiree is this thanks to her Mnemosyne addiction, being addicted to the drug as a result of a mid-life crisis.
  • Always Murder: Zigzagged. Phoenix himself is on trial for a robbery rather than murder, but later on Ron is revealed to have been killed.
  • Arc Words: "Alive for now, but good as dead."
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: The final confrontation with Sam is one of these, with both Phoenix and Klavier confronting her with the connection she has with the both of them.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ron DeLite is revealed to have been murdered partway through the case. He's alive and well in the main series the last we saw of him.
  • Fantastic Drug: Mnemosyne, a drug designed to make the user forget what happens in the next six hours.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Dahlia Hawthorne is Sam's sister, and one the responsible for making her attempt to frame Phoenix.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Desiree DeLite. Due to her Mnemosyne addiction, Sam is able to get her to convince Phoenix to take some himself, and therefore st up her plot to frame him.
  • Wham Shot: In an last-ditch effort to get himself acquitted, Phoenix attempts to call Jamie Strange to the stand... only to see an entirely different person than he thought he'd summon, leading him to realize he's been duped the entire time.
