You too can be a stylish real estate agent!

"I knew there was something special about you, kid, the moment you stepped off the train."

A Golden Wake is an Adventure Game stylized as a 4-Bit Point-and-Click Game, released on October 10, 2014 by Grundislav Games. Set mostly in the state of 1920s Miami, you take the role of Alfred Banks (referred to by many people as Alfie), a real estate agent relocating to Miami after being dropped from his old job.

Throughout the game, we go through a decade of Alfie's life as he goes through the various financial and mental crises. Paired with a jazzy soundtrack and your handy real estate agent senses, you're tasked with helping Alfie help with his deals and goals. However, soon into the game, Alfie is faced with some tempting offers...

The game can be purchased on Steam.

A Golden Wake contains examples of:

  • 100% Completion: You need to complete all of the 18 achievements in-game to achieve this. Bonus, they are all also able to be missed but one! Good luck completing that.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: Throughout the game, you are able to use Seller Intuition to get hints on how to successfully convince a specific person. It specifically points out the features of the person and determine their personality traits, giving the clueless player a nudge in the right direction.
  • But Thou Must!: In the climax of the game, you are unable to progress the game unless you successfully convince George Merrick to leave his crumbling home.
  • Death Equals Redemption: Played straight with your brother depending on the player's actions. If you choose to be honest with your brother in the diner, he would show up at your funeral. Subverted with George Merrick, as he forgives you moments before your death
  • Exact Eavesdropping: As Alfie comes down to the lobby from the 13th floor after being rejected from the exclusive party, he happens to sit down and listen in on two men talking about that party, giving him clues on how to get in.
  • Foreshadowing: Alfie makes a remark on how the uneven rafters at Mr. Mathers' house could come crumbling down at any moment. Guess what happens at the end?
  • Too Dumb to Live: After Alfie dropped the sack on the Old Lady at the bakery, he can run outside... and stand still. After a few seconds, the Old Lady comes out and shoots you. Should've ran faster, eh?
