Time Space Rift

After Elise's emotional breakdown after Mephiles killed Sonic, he and Iblis have merged into Solaris and have begun eating the timelines. And since Solaris exists in the past, present, AND future, it would be impossible to completely defeat it and save the day. When Silver suggests to destroy Solaris in all three time statuses, Shadow points out that it would've been possible... if Sonic was still alive, causing everyone to sink in despair and give up all hope and conform to their fate as Solaris destroys all space and time.
