The Joining

To become a Grey Warden, recruits must undergo a secret ritual known as the Joining, where they must drink a mixture which includes lyrium, darkspawn blood, and archdemon blood. Drinking said mixture carries the risk of suffering a horrific death, while any attempt to back out during the Joining will also result in death in order to keep the ritual a secret.
