Titus Tatius was a legendary figure in Ancient Roman history and mythology, known for his role as co-ruler of the kingdom alongside Romulus during the early years of the city's existence. He is believed to have ruled jointly with Romulus after the Sabines and Romans formed a treaty following a conflict between Rome and Sabine.

According to legend, the Sabines were incensed by the abduction of their women by Roman men during a festival. In response, Titus Tatius led the Sabines in a war against Rome. However, the conflict was eventually resolved through the intervention of the abducted women, who appealed for peace and reconciliation between the two sides.

After the treaty was established between the Romans and the Sabines, it is said that Titus Tatius and Romulus ruled Rome together as joint kings. This arrangement was symbolic of the unity between the Sabines and the Romans.

Titus Tatius is often associated with the construction of a temple dedicated to the Sabine deity Semo Sancus Dius Fidius on the Quirinal Hill. This temple served as a place of worship and was a testament to the influence of the Sabine culture in early Rome.

He died from injuries sustained during a riot as he was about to perform a sacrifice. His death marked the end of his joint rule with Romulus and Rome would eventually continue fighting with Sabine.
