Robert Strange McNamara (June 9, 1916 - July 6, 2009) was an American business executive and the eighth US Secretary of Defense. He served from 1961 to 1968, under presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.
He previously served in the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel from 1940 to 1946.
McNamara was married to Margaret Craig and Diana Masieri Byfield, and had three children with Craig.
He died in 2009 at the age of 93 and was buried in Arlington Cemetery.
