David Alexander Paterson (May 20, 1954) is an American politician who was the Governor of New York and is the first African American and second legally blind governor of a US state.
He previously served as Lt. Governor before becoming the governor of the state before Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned due to a scandal involving prostitution.
He was married to Michelle Paige, currently married to Mary Galda, and has two children with Paige.
