- Port Overdosed: Zool was originally released for the Amiga, Atari ST, Acorn Archimedes, DOS, Mega Drive, Master System, SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear, and Amiga CD32. Later re-releases for Blackberry phones and the Antstream subscription service brought it up to the requisite 12 platforms.
- What Could Have Been: The franchise has a short infamous and complicated history lasting from 1989 to 2007.
- The game was planned to be the third installment to the Amiga game Switchblade but the two games were criticized for the lack of enemies and slow pacing. As a result, it became the final product that we know and love.
- Data Design Interactive tried to make a sequel to the series, but their prototype was rejected. Rather than cancel the game altogether, however, they retooled it into Ninjabread Man (and 3 other games).
- Working Title: Pootz.
