Trivia / ZZ Top

  • Chart Displacement: Their Breakthrough Hit "La Grange" actually just barely missed making the Top 40 (it's been called the most famous song to ever peak at #41; the other contenders would be "From Me to You", "Okie from Muskogee" and "Tiny Dancer"). The iconic "Sharp Dressed Man" stalled out at #56. The band's biggest hits on the charts were instead "Legs" and "Sleeping Bag" (both peaked at #8), and they had six other songs reach the Hot 100's Top 40 and outperform their most iconic hits.

    • A minor antagonist from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, ZZ of the Wheel of Fortune card, gets his name from the band itself. His Stand, Wheel of Fortune, also appears to be modeled after the truck on the album cover for ZZ Top's Eliminator.
    • One episode of Freakazoid! had the Lobe asking Stef "Is every women crazy about a sharp dressed man?"
    • American figure skater Tonya Harding used "Sleeping Bag" to underscore several of her performances; one such show, song and all, is depicted in the 2017 biopic I, Tonya.
    • In the The Simpsons episode "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday", Marge and Lisa watch a Super Bowl ad which spoofs the music video for "Gimme All Your Lovin'" (though accompanied by "Legs") by showing a man pulling into a gas station in the middle of nowhere, where he's serviced by three attractive women, before it's revealed to be an ad for the Catholic Church.
