Trivia / Your Highness

Go To

  • Box Office Bomb: The film only grossed $28 million at the box office against a budget of $50 million.
  • Creator Backlash: James Franco hated this film. At his Comedy Central Roast, he made this joke: "I agreed to do this roast because I wanted to do something I’ve never done before — something that has zero artistic value, something nobody will remember three months from now, something that’s offensive, homophobic and stars horrifically untalented people and something that’s only a big deal to a handful of teenage stoners on Twitter. You might say, ‘James, didn’t you just describe Your Highness? I wouldn’t know, I didn’t see Your Highness."
  • Fake Brit: Basically the whole main cast except Courtney, though most of the supporting cast are also genuine Brits. Word of God says it's more or less a takeoff on all those sword and sorcery epics with actors attempting to replicate British accents and not always succeeding.
  • One for the Money; One for the Art: Natalie Portman admitted she only did this movie because there was some uncertainty if Black Swan would get greenlit by a major studio. She signed on to this film for a quick paycheck and use it to help finance Black Swan herself, should the need have ever risen. However, Black Swan got greenlit and went underway fairly easily, and Natalie got stuck doing this film having already signed on. Despite this and the film's negative critical and commercial reception, she is widely credited as being the only reason to see the film.
  • Throw It In!: Reportedly, the whole script was like this. The film's writers (one of them being co-star Danny McBride) had written an outline but ended up filming without a finished script and let the actors ad-lib everything.
