  • Ascended Fanon: Towe's fan-redesigns were integrated into being the actual new designs for the Youngblood characters.
  • Breakthrough Hit: Jim Towe has gone on to professional comic art after only doing fan art and commissions on DeviantArt, thanks to this series.
  • Creator-Preferred Adaptation: Rob Liefeld admits he thinks that this series is the best Youngblood has ever been.
  • Follow the Leader: The 2017 relaunch is essentially Image's attempt to rejuvenate the Youngblood franchise, celebrating its history while bringing in new fans, not unlike DC Rebirth, which started roughly a year earlier. The first arc is even called "Youngblood Reborn".
  • Promoted Fanboy: Jim Towe had no previous resume going in. However, Liefeld took notice of this tweet by Jim Towe depicting fan art redesigns of Suprema, Doc Rocket, Shaft, Vogue, and Sentinel made as a response of DC Rebirth, just in time when Liefeld was looking to revive the series for its 25th anniversary. This gave Towe his very first professional gig, and it happened by chance. Notably, the designs for all the characters sans Shaft were actually incorporated into being their new official designs.
  • Reality Subtext: Youngblood (2017) is about a new team created to be a Redeeming Replacement for the original Youngblood, who are considered a failure, hated by the general public and not even remembered fondly by the original members due to being overly violent, arrogant and considering themselves above and beyond the law (in other words, being Ninties Anti-Heroes). Likewise, the relaunch itself is an attempt to revive the Youngblood franchise, as Rob Liefeld's original run is largely considered everything wrong with The Dark Age of Comic Books.
