The series received two English dubs; one that stayed very faithful to the original that can be viewed on Amazon and Tubi TV, while the other is a Gag Dub that basically acts out as an official Abridged Series.
There exists two Arabic versions; the Baraem dub and the Basma dub, the latter of which has a completely original theme song. The Basma dub however uses the same localization as the Baraem one.
As a result of the Gag Dub, there are two Latin American Spanish versions; the Venezuelan Spanish dub is of the Gag Dub, which was broadcast on Cartoon Network and Boomerang in 2012 (and also served as the worldwide premiere of the show), while the Mexican Spanish dub is of the original, which aired on Canal Once in 2015.
Taken up to eleven when in 2015, Boomerang decided to dub the second season of the original show and advertise it as the "second season" of the Gag Dub, with the same Venezuelan voice actors and all... despite the two shows being COMPLETELY different.
A similar situation also happened with Brazilian Portuguese, in that the Gag Dub was dubbed, but not season 1 of the original. Season 2 was later dubbed and aired on Boomerang in 2015, and it was also hosted on Netflix.
Four episodes of season 2note 3a (착한 악당), 9a (크리스마스의 해프닝), 11a (모두 모두 해피뉴이어), and 18a (달콤한 발렌타인 보내기) are not available on Amazon, likely so that they could have a perfect number of 52 episodes.
Likewise, some episodes were also missing on Netflix's release of the first two seasons too.
No Export for You: The first two seasons in English were released on Amazon and Netflix in the US, but season 3 isn't available anywhere. It's unknown if it was even dubbed. Then in 2019, the latter service removed the show entirely, probably so that it couldn't overshadow Rescue. However the series is still legally available in the US by other means.
Lemmee was voiced by Song Jeong-hui in season 1, but was then replaced by Lee Won-chan in seasons 2 and 3.
In the Venezuelan Spanish dub of the Gag Dub, Roodee was voiced by Ledner Belisario, but in the dub of the second season of the original series, he was replaced by Angel Lugo. Also, Father Time's voice actor was replaced by someone else only a few episodes in.
Both the 2009 series and YooHoo to the Rescue, the latter of which would come out years later, were dubbed in Mexico but under different studios (Central Entertainment and SIGE Produciendo respectively). Because of this, the Furry Five all currently have different voice actors than they did in 2015. This has also happened with a few other versions.note English, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Dutch, and Turkish.
Out of Order: Averted with the Amazon release of the first season, but the second season has a completely different episode order, on top of the four Missing Episodes, making it 52 episodes instead of 56 segments. Netflix also had a different episode order when they hosted the show, too.
Two Shorts: Both the 2009 and 2012 series use this format, with two segments making up one 22-minute episode. As usual, the segments for both series can be aired separately as one 11-minute episode, like how ABC Me aired the 2012 series.
Un-Canceled: The series initially ended in 2009 with one season and 26 episodes (and 52 segments). However the series was then renewed for two more seasons in 2013, and a new art style and plot was in place to spice things up a bit. The series ended once again in 2015, which led to YooHoo to the Rescue being made in 2019.
Both Arabic dubs, Croatian, Dutch, Mexican Spanish, Persian, and Turkish have only dubbed season 1.
Inverted with Brazilian and European Portuguese and Venezuelan Spanish in which season 2 actually was dubbed, but season 1 wasn'tnote Only the 2012 Gag Dub series was dubbed in Venezuelan Spanish specifically. More details about that are elaborated on in the Dueling Dubs entry. Oddly enough, season 3 also wasn't dubbed as well.
As mentioned above, four episodes in the English dub of season 2 are missing, and season 3 wasn't dubbed.
And played straight with Hebrew and Russian, in which the first two seasons were dubbed, but the third one wasn't.
If you couldn't tell by now, season 3 wasn't dubbed in any language, despite how most of the dubs for season 2 were released around the same time that season 3 was. Basically, this makes all dubs of the show unfinished.
Actor Allusion: Father Time was created to fit the role of his actor, Flavor Flav; even right down to his catchphrase, "YEAH BOY!".
Amateur Cast: Most, if not all of the cast in the show doesn't seem to have many acting credits, with the exception of Flavor Flav.
Celebrity Voice Actor: Father Time, who is voiced by Flavor Flav, to the surprise of many.
Creator's Oddball: Subverted. You would think the same guy who created Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel would not be the creator of a preschool show. However even David Feiss himself knew this, and decided to officially abridge the dialogue to make the show more of his own. He changed it so much that the show is completely different than the one it was originally based on, and as a result, Feiss' version of YooHoo & Friends is much more on brand with his other works.
Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Many people on a forum misheard an announcement video Flavor Flav made for this show at MIPTV, and thought that he had actually said that the show would air on Nick Jr.note You would think this wouldn't come off as a surprise knowing the original show's kiddy nature, but they were actually surprised because they thought Flavor Flav was starring in a Nick Jr. show. Cue hilariously mixed reactions and confusion.
Disowned Adaptation: Aurora World ended up disowning the Gag Dub following a copyright dispute from Toonzone Studios over not being granted a second season.
Series creator David Feiss? Yeah, he also made Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel, again to the surprise of many.
The writer of every episode, Tom Krajewski was also a writer on Catscratch and Fairly OddParents, the latter of which was used to advertise YooHoo and Friends. He also wrote on Buddy Thunderstruck. He is most likely the one to thank when it comes to all the self-aware Breaking the Fourth Wall jokes.
For a long while, the entire Gag Dub was once unavailable to view in any form, and was considered lost. All 52 episodes were eventually archived in November 2016 from someone who recorded the show from ABC3 in Australia; though at one point the original files that person had sent also became lost, and what remained was watermarked mirrored copies that had glitches for some episodes. The original files were thankfully saved by another person and uncovered again in 2021, save for one episode (The Return of Dr. Platypus) which luckily does not have any glitches in the watermarked copy. Though if you're trying to look for episodes of the Venezuelan Spanish dub (10 episodes that were cam recorded) or the even more lost Brazilian Portuguese dub (only the intro and the Gem Sequence song recorded), tough luck.
Man of a Thousand Voices: Jesse Inocalla voices almost every additional character the YooHoos come across, along with Pookee 2.
Market-Based Title: The Brazilian Portuguese dub titled the show "Yoohoo - Amigos da Natureza" (YooHoo: Friends of Nature).
No Export for You: Literally every other country that isn't the UK, Australia, and Latin America (including the US where the show was produced) was robbed of this show, due to Toonzone suing Aurora World and the latter breaking their deal, causing YooHoo and Friends not to get a second season. At least some countries were able to get the 2009 series.
Saved from Development Hell: A minor example as it was a reasonable wait, though the dub was known to have been produced in 2010 at the least (one year after the original series). In 2011, there are many sources talking about the dub, but it never made its debut until the very start of the year after. It's important to note that other than Action Dad, none of Toonzone's other planned productions were so lucky.
