Trivia / X-Men Legends

  • Fake Brit: Canadian Jennifer Hale as the Scarlet Witch (who isn't British). Then again, Scarlet Witch was born and raised in a fake country. Who's to say what her accent sounds like? In a straighter example, Armin Shimerman (American) as the English mutant Toad. Canadian Masasa Moyo as Psylocke also qualifies.
  • Fake Nationality: Many of the foreign X-Men, ranging from Just a Stupid Accent (Colossus, Nightcrawler), to Not Even Bothering with the Accent (Magneto, who like in other adaptations doesn't even remotely sound Polish).
  • Role Reprise:
  • The Other Darrin: There are a few voice lines in the first game from Professor X that don't exactly sound like Patrick Stewart (specifically the ending cutscene and whenever the player selects Jubilee on their team). While no other voice actor is credited, listeners (and by checking the end credits and cross-referencing) can figure out that it's Tom Kane doing those voice lines, who would voice-double for Stewart in Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • This interview with the director of the first game reveals many details about cut content from it:
      • It was originally pitched as a turn-based RPG before the team decided to make it an action RPG, which they felt more comfortable developing.
      • The POV character at first would be a player-created custom character, but Marvel wasn't interested in the idea. Then Kitty Pryde was considered before Magma was ultimately chosen.
      • Nick Fury and SHIELD would be involved with the story in some capacity, but had to be removed as they weren't considered X-Men properties so were off-limits to the developers. Fury would end up being a guest star in a mission from the second game.
      • The New X-Men outfits seen in early game screenshots were replaced by the Ultimate X Men outfits so the characters would be distinguished better during gameplay with the camera angle and distance.
      • The storyline was going to be wildly different from the finished game. Magneto would succeed in bringing Asteroid M down into New York, and some heroes were transformed and the X-Men would wear survival gear (which were included in the finished game as alternate costumes without context), while the Brotherhood would style themselves as Greek gods and have an arena in the post-apocalyptic New York City (the Greek-styled Brotherhood and arena level were repurposed as part of the Astral Plane missions in the finished game). Zeitgeist (presumably the character from X-Statix) was also mentioned as being behind everything, and the final act would have the player traveling back in time to prevent the asteroid crash.
      • Angel and Bishop were cut, and Havok and Marrow would be playable at one point. Angel would have become Archangel in the scrapped Act 4, and was cut because his wings were hard to implement. Despite not being present in the finished game, the credits still list him as voiced by AndrĂ© Sogliuzzo. Bishop does have a cameo as a child in the finished game, but would have been present as an adult in the post-apocalyptic fourth act. Because of the lineup changes, Jubilee became a very late addition in development.
      • Hugh Jackman was considered early on to voice Wolverine. Voice actors from the 90s cartoon were apparently considered too, though none were specified. Before they managed to get Patrick Stewart to voice Professor X, the developers wanted to seek out soundalikes of either Stewart or Cedric Smith from the cartoon.
