Trivia / World Peace

Go To

  • Corpsing: Most commonly in the form of Sam's face breaking into a bizarre pointy smile right before a sketch ends.
  • Creator Backlash: Adult Swim was quick to label World Peace as this, considering Brett Gelman left them in protest. They had nothing positive to say about it when revisiting it for the "History of Adult Swim" block.
No comment. So many comments; bored, angry, amused, semi-interested, silent. You know who you are. As for us, all of those things. Majority rules.
    • In June 2020, the series was pulled from their website (Along with the equally reviled Minoriteam) in the wake of George Floyd's murder and the ensuing "Black Lives Matter" protests against racism and police brutality.
  • Creator Killer: Behind the scenes drama lead to a falling out between Charls Carroll and Sam Hyde and the effective dissolution of the Million Dollar Extreme brand for the better part of a decade. Carroll blamed Hyde for the cancellation of World Peace and accused him of sabotaging another project he had in the works with Adult Swim, while Hyde alleged that Carroll was bitter and jealous of his independent wealth. The two eventually reconciled in early 2023.
  • Executive Meddling: Obvious censorship is visible all over the show. This is hardly a surprise, however, as the show appeared to be designed so that it couldn't be aired without some degree of editing.
    • The opening credits, transitions between scenes, and MDE vanity card contained many paragraphs of text, all of which involved insulting Adult Swim and its executives. In Adult Swim's edit, all text in these segments other than credits were blatantly covered up with solid color rectangles or blurred out.
    • The original logo was replaced with a peace sign. This is because the original logo was taken from the writings of the Aurora movie theater shooter.
    • The Man Who Would Never Be... What They Made Him To Be originally ended with a music video for John Maus' Cop Killer. Adult Swim replaced this with Hey Moon, also by John Maus.
