Trivia / Work It Out Wombats!

Go To

  • Actor-Shared Background: Tymika Tafari is Jamaican-Canadian, and her character Ellie is Jamaican. Likewise, JunJun, Kaya, Amado and Gabriela are Philippine eagles who are all voiced by Filipinos.
  • Adored by the Network: It says quite a lot about PBS Kids and their high hopes for this show to do well when it's already slated to receive a podcast before it even premieres.
  • Cast the Runner-Up: As Rain Janjua says here, he originally auditioned for the role of Malik before being cast as Zeke.
  • Children Voicing Children: The child characters are all voiced by child actors.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: IMDb lists individual voice actors for the crab kids. Actually, they're all voiced by Julie Lemieux. In addition, it says that Deann DeGruijter voices Kat (the crab kids' mom) but she's actually voiced by Athena Karkanis. There are also listings for nonexistent characters like 'Chloe' and 'Casey.'
  • Creator-Driven Successor: Seven or so years before this show premiered, GBH created Aha Island, a miniseries about monkeys using computational thinking. Island and Wombats share many similarities; they both have a location called the Everything Emporium, they both have single-minded crab triplets, and they both have songs about seeing scary shadows at night.
  • Dawson Casting: While Malik, Zadie, and Zeke are 7, 6, and 4 respectively, their voice actors, Ian Ho, Mia SwamiNathan, and Rain Janjua are in their pre-teens by the time the show started production.
  • He Also Did: Sherri Stoner (yes, that Sherri Stoner, who was the animation model for Ariel and voice of Slappy Squirrel) is the head writer for this show. In addition, Randy Rogel, the writer of "Yakko's World" and "Wakko's America," wrote a song for this show.
  • Only So Many Canadian Actors: You've probably heard at least one of the voice actors in another cartoon before.
  • Out of Order: The premiere episode, "Snout And About/Zadie's Shell Shuffle," is actually the third episode in production order.
  • Production Posse:
    • There are plenty of Arthur and Martha Speaks writers who write for this show, such as Kathy Waugh, Peter K. Hirsch, and Joe Fallon.
    • Several of the voice cast, including Ian Ho, Joe Motiki, Tymika Tafari, and Shoshana Sperling, have all also worked on PAW Patrol.
  • Schedule Slip: "The Treeborhood Photo Album/Runway Recycling" was originally scheduled to premiere on March 20, but it was inexplicably removed. It was later rescheduled for August 3.
  • Short Run in Peru: Season 1 finished airing in Canada in May 2024, while Season 1 is not finished airing in the US.
  • Voices in One Room: As shown in these pictures, the main cast voice the characters in the same recording room.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: PBS created a metadata bank containing metadata for all of their works, including future episodes of Work It Out Wombats!. However, after the fandom found it and shared info about the episodes, they shut the website down, displaying a 404 message.
  • Working Title: The series' working title was Wombats!
