  • Fake American: Jessie Buckley (Irish) as Mariche, Claire Foy and Ben Whishaw (British) as Salome and August, and Sheila McCarthy (Canadian) as Greta.
  • Method Acting: During filming, the cast were advised to not put on makeup or shave until they were wrapped, to properly understand how their characters lived.
  • Produced by Cast Member: Frances McDormand was one of the producers of the film.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: August Winter, who's nonbinary, played trans man Melvin.
  • What Could Have Been: The book is narrated by August, and the film was shot to be as well.
