- Mark Rylance was older than Cromwell by about 10 years; Cromwell begins the story in his 40s. As the series spans roughly a decade, he does match more closely by the end.
- Jonathan Pryce was almost 70; Wolsey died at age 57.
- Died During Production: While the last of the novels (The Mirror and the Light) has already been published in March 2020, Hilary Mantel—who worked closely with Peter Straughan during the adaptation processes—would untimely pass away in September 22, 2022.
