• Acting for Two: Or for almost everyone. That is the entire point of the show.
• Creator In-Joke: The date included in the recording disclaimer of each episode is September 1, 1986. It is Anton Lapenko's birth date.
• Cross-Cast Role: Anton Lapenko as Natella, Tatiana, Zina, Roza Krepygina and a few female extras. He doesn't even hide his moustache when he plays most of them. However, he shaved it off to play young and female characters in season 4.
• The Danza: Subverted. Surprisingly, none of the main characters are named Anton.
• Dawson Casting: Anton Lapenko was in his mid-thirties while filming the show, but his characters range from babies (Tatiana's daughter) to elderly men (Vishnevskiy brothers and God).
• Defictionalization: Crimson Phantomas has become a real band, with Anton Lapenko singing (but not playing the guitar) as Roza Robot.
• Fake American: Anton Lapenko (a Russian) as Richard Sapogov (an American, or an imposter pretending to be an American).
• Fake Shemp: Every time two or more characters played by Anton Lapenko appear together, we see the face of only one. The characters whose faces are not seen are played by his brothers. In case of all young characters in season 4, Anton Lapenko's doubles are kids.
• The Merch: There is a board game based on the show.
• Spiritual Successor: To a few 00's Russian TV shows where all main characters are played by two actors. No wonder why New Year Special's Big Bad is played by Dmitry Nagiev, who became a star on Russian TV after playing in one of such shows.
• Time-Shifted Actor: Subverted. Anton Lapenko has also played his characters' younger versions in season 4.
