  • June, Tony, and Maggie all have character models which have been recycled across several books, usually for minor characters.
  • Alec Burdock is Martin.
  • Ellen Thompson is Scarlett Emerson with different hair.
  • Charlie Carmichael is Mr. Gallagher.
  • Mike Xiao is Agent Michael Kim and Dr. Tanaka.
  • Barbara is Mira Banerji.
  • Hagfish is Rachel Winthrop.
  • Bob Morganstern is Robert Tennyson and one of the potential models for Frank Wheeler.
  • Justin Morganstern is TJ.
  • The DJ at the club in a premium scene in Chapter 13 is Koh Sunya.
  • Merriweather is Blaire Hall.
• What Could Have Been: Chapter 14 ends with Ellen inviting Lydia to co-host a news show at a different network with her. This presumably was the intended plot of Book 2, but the story was cancelled after one book.
