- Dueling Shows: This show shared the same time slot on NBC as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) did on CBS, as evidenced by the prologue to "Gross Encounters", wherein Macaulay Culkin asks the audience if they're as tired of Ninja Turtles as he is. Ninja Turtles won this duel, as it lasted ten seasons, whereas Wish Kid only lasted one. Not helping Wish Kid's case is that it aired on the lowest-rated Saturday-morning cartoon block at the time, which NBC abandoned in September of 1992 thanks to the combined failures of this series, ProStars, Space Cats, and Yo Yogi!.
- What Could Have Been: A second season was planned to air on the Family Channel in 1993 after NBC shut down their Saturday Morning cartoon block, but was later cancelled. This was due in part to DiC's top priorities of 1993 including two different animated series based on Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as The Incredible Dennis the Menace, the last of which was created to tie in with the live-action film by Warner Bros..
