Trivia / White Sun of the Desert

• Fake Nationality: No named Central Asian character are played by Central Asians, e.g. Abdullah is an ethnic Georgian, and Sayid and Gyulchatai are ethnic Russians.
• Troubled Production: The production was riddled with misfortunes. A stuntman died, actors getting drunk and participating in fights with locals was commonplace, after two years of filming the crew exceeded the budget and all the studio bosses didn't liked what they shot so far. After the shooting was over it went through heavy Executive Meddling from the officials, and yet the bosses still didn't like the outcome. If it wasn't for Brezhnev himself who had a habit of watching all new western and Soviet movies at his dacha, this movie would have never had a proper release. As it happened, Brezhnev LOVED the movie, and all arguments from officials ended.
