Trivia / Where the Dead Go to Die

Go To

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: The premise of Liquid Memories revolves around a gland in human brains that contains their memories, and expels them as a hallucinogenic fluid upon death. This (loosely) describes one theorized function of the pineal gland—that it causes dreams and near-death hallucinations by secreting dimethyltryptamine.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor:
    • Linnea Quigley, best known as Trash, has a bit part in Liquid Memories.
    • Joey Smack, one half of the notorious Z-movie director team behind Duck! The Carbine High Massacre, voiced Ralph in The Mask That the Monsters Wear. Fellow animators M dot Strange and a pre-fallout Emily Youcis also have bit parts in the short.
    • Passenger of Shit lends his voice at several points throughout the anthology.
  • Colbert Bump: Screamerclauz in particular credits Diamanda Hagan's review for garnering interest in the film online.
  • Descended Creator: Jimmy himself voices Labby.
  • Executive Meddling: A positive instance: Jimmy originally submitted just the first two shorts, but at 45 minutes, the publisher felt it was too short to put out. This spurred Jimmy on to complete the final short, extending the entire anthology to feature-length.
  • In Memoriam: The anthology on the whole, to Jennifer English, a bit part in Liquid Memories who died the year the short came out.
  • MacGyvering: The motion capture used on ''The Masks That The Monsters Wear" was done with a jury-rigged Kinect.
  • Parody Retcon: Inverted—Tainted Milk was concieved as a Black Comedy Lassie spoof, but changed to a straight horror mid-production when James found that it didn't work without the laugh track.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • These three shorts were meant as part of a series of six. One was the story of a kid playing superhero and running into actual criminals. Another (then called The Lovening,) went through substantial overhauls (at one point it was to be a live-action film, under the working title Dogshit!) before finally seeing release as the feature-length When Black Birds Fly.
