Trivia / Welcome To The Table

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Ben portrays most of the states and organizations, though sometimes other YouTubers and comedians will pop in as guest stars, such as Drew Lynch as the CDC.
  • Actor-Shared Background: Ben is from Florida, hence why that state is the "main" character. Also, whenever the US Military appears, Ben wears his actual uniform since he's in the National Guard.
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • Ben is open to viewer feedback on how to portray the states, especially the ones he personally knows little about. For instance, Utah went from "Elder Utah," an uptight Mormon missionary, to being a lot more laid back while still religious. He eventually stops wearing his missionary uniform in favor of a "Utah Rocks" t-shirt, showing off the state's rock formations.
    • Ben split DC into "Gov" and "Washington, DC" due to the District having its own local culture and politics separate from its role as seat of the federal government. Namely, in the Maryland-centric episode, several viewers pointed out in the comments that DC should be more personally familiar with Maryland's quirks instead of his usual reactions.
  • Creator's Favorite: Ben has admitted that, other than Florida, his favorite state to portray is Louisiana.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: Ben came up with the show in the spring of 2020 after all of his stand-up gigs were cancelled due to Covid-19.
  • Shown Their Work: Ben clearly knows his geography, history, and politics. And when he asks for viewer suggestions on the local quirks of a state, he specifically asks for things he can't just look up on Google.
  • Written-In Infirmity: Mississippi was nicknamed "'Sippi" by Drew Lynch in his guest appearances to accommodate his stutter, which has since been picked up by Ben in later episodes.
