Trivia / Welcome to the Ballroom

Go To

  • The Danza: Chinatsu is voiced by Chinatsu Akasaki in the anime.
  • Follow the Leader: While the original manga began much earlier (in 2011), the anime clearly tried to capture the same kind of success as 2016's Yuri!!! on Ice, especially since both series revolve around more artistic, unconventional sports. In an interview with producer Tetsuya Kinoshita, he says he wanted to execute the anime's dance scenes as well as Yuri on Ice 's skating scenes did, and in a later interview he even says outright that he hoped Yuri on Ice 's success would help their own production.
  • Overtook the Manga: With Ballroom's frequent hiatuses due to the author's health, it was only a matter of time before the adaptation caught up to the current arc. They announced that the anime's conclusion of the current arc would differ slightly than what was planned for the manga.
  • Schedule Slip: The manga has frequently had to go on hiatus due to creator Tomo Takeuchi dealing with health issues.
  • Troubled Production: A very tragic example during the production of episode 2. The episode was farmed to the overworked Studio Pierrot, who put one of their regular Naruto directors, Kazunori Mizuno, in charge of the episode. His work over on Shippuden and on this episode resulted in his death and several more directors having to step in as a result. The situation is discussed in more detail here.
