- Edited for Syndication: The original run of Season 1 of the Nickelodeon series had a synth-driven theme by Paul Zaza. Later airings replaced it with the newer 1985 theme by New York Sound. One can hear traces of the original theme in the Season 1 episodes by listening closely to the audio. Only two episodes, #22 ("Fuses"), and (oddly enough) the Dailymotion version of #23 ("Bending Glass"), reinstate the original theme.
- Each episode of the Nickelodeon series, at least for 1983 and 1985, had a teaser about what the subject was on. They were cut in later airings. It's unclear if 1989 and 1990 originally had one.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only thirty-two episodes of the original series' run were released on a total of eight four-episode DVDs, selected by Don Herbert himself. While those are still available through the website of Mister Wizard Studios
, no further releases have been announced.- For the Nickelodeon series, only two of its 78 episodes, #03 ("Finger Boiling"), and #49 ("Holograms"), are totally missing.
