• Creator's Oddball: Author Robert B. Parker, known for writing Hardboiled Detective fiction like Spenser, Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall, suddenly wrote this series. It kind of makes sense though, as gunslingers and private detectives can both be seen as newer versions of the classic Knight Errant character. He had also written a Historical Fiction novel featuring Wyatt Earp a few years before starting this series, which may have led to his interest in the The Western genre.
