- Screwed by the Lawyers: A minor example. The game was initially developed by Richard Garfield, who created Magic: The Gathering, and published Wizards of the Coast, so the game uses their "tap/untap" system. Wizards stopped publication and development for a time, then White Wolf took over the game until they, too, canceled it sometime after the start of the New World of Darkness. Sometime during this, Wizards copyrighted the terms "tap/untap" as related to collectible card games, but couldn't copyright the act of rotating a card ninety degrees on the table. Thus, the most current version of the rules refers to this action as "lock/unlock," even though most, if not all, published cards say "tap/untap" in their printed text.
