Trivia / Vampire Princess Miyu

Go To

  • Anime First: Almost, as only the first chapter of the manga had been released when the OVA was released. Several of the OVA's characters were later integrated into the manga.
  • Creator Couple: Miyu was created by the manga artist Narumi Kakinouchi, and her husband Toshiki Hirano was the director of the OVA and the TV series.
  • Dawson Casting:
    • Originally averted with the English dub of the TV series. In the first seven episodes, Miyu was voiced by 16-year-old Kimberly J. Brown, who about matched the character's physical age. However her replacement, Dorothy Elias-Fahn, is a straight example.
    • Also averted with Chisato, who was voiced by 18-year-old Anjuli Cain.
  • No Export for You: Strangely, and for reasons unknown, only the first two episodes of the OVA were distributed in Spain.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Miyu has had two Japanese voice actresses and four English voice actresses. Naoko Watanabe note  voiced her in the OVA, and Miki Nagasawa voiced her in the TV series. In English, Pamela Weidner voiced her in the US OVA dub from AnimEigo, while Annemarie Zola voiced her in the (now very obscure) Manga UK dub. In the TV series, she was voiced by Kimberly J. Brown (Marnie in the first three Halloweentown movies) for the first 7 episodes and Dorothy Elias-Fahn for the remainder, possibly due to scheduling conflicts with Kimberly.
    • Larva was voiced by the late Kaneto Shiozawa in the OVA and Shin-ichiro Miki in the TV series. In English, he was voiced by Zach Hanner in the US OVA dub, and Ryan Alosio in the TV series.
  • Remake Cameo: Stephanie Griffin, who voiced Himeko Se in the English dub of the OVA, returns to the TV series to voice Yukari.
  • Romance on the Set: Narumi Kakinouchi and Toshiki Hirano married when the Miyu OVA began production.
  • What Could Have Been: A novelization of the OVA penned by Sho Aikawa (who also worked in the production) was announced back at its day before being cancelled.
