• Defictionalization: The Vigor Assistant for the UNIX VI text editor is a clone of Clippy for Microsoft Word. Some random hacker made a real Vigor Assistant.
• Orphaned Series: After running constantly from 1997, the comic went on hiatus at the end of November 2009. It started up again in August 2010, ran to mid-September, and went on an even briefer hiatus. Then there was one final burst of activity in November, and ever since the comic has sat abandoned. And then in a February 2022 forum post, Iliad announced that the site would shut down at the end of the month.
• Technology Marches On: Inevitable for a strip running so long. One that really stands out is Pitr equipping his PDA with a front-facing camera and it being treated like an absurd novelty, when a few years later it would be a basic feature.
