- Science Marches On: The physics of the wormholes in the book relies on the fact that gravity propagates instantaneously and thus free from the constraints of the speed of light. It's been discovered a few years after the publication of the books that gravity is limited by the speed of light.
- Word of God: The comic issue in which New York (and the Earth) is destroyed was released soon after September 11th attacks. Some readers thought this was a very bad joke. The author had to write a note, explaining it was just a coincidence, since the whole scenario for the 6 books was written ahead of the first books' publication.
