Trivia / Under the Silver Lake

  • Box Office Bomb: The polarizing and confusing content meant that it was never going to be a true financial smash success, but due to it being Screwed by the Network, it wasn't given a theatrical run and grossed a paltry $46,000 domestically and under $2 million worldwide.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Riley Keough dyed her hair blonde to play Sarah.
  • Fake American: British actor Andrew Garfield plays American protagonist Sam.
  • He Also Did: David Yow of The Jesus Lizard plays the Homeless King in this movie.
  • Musical Nod: Sam's ringtone is the first level music of Commodore 64 game The Last Ninja.
  • Screwed by the Network: A24 was initially supposed to put it out in the US in June 2018 after the film's premiere at Cannes, but was moved to December of that year following the film's polarized reception and amidst unfounded rumors of Mitchell recutting the movie. It was then pushed to April of 2019 despite the fact that it had been already released in several countries both in theaters and on home video. And two weeks before the theatrical release, it was announced that the film would instead be released straight to On Demand instead of theaters. Even after all of this, Lionsgate's US Blu-ray release of the film is exclusively sold through Amazon on burned BD-R discs instead of properly pressed Blu-rays.
  • Short Run in Peru: The film is American and has been released in several countries in mid-2018 and is already available on home video in these places. The domestic release was April 19, 2019, exclusively on video-on-demand.
