Trivia / Ultraman Dyna

Go To

  • Acting for Two: The human forms of the two aliens from episode 27 are both played by Hiroshi Watari.
  • He Also Did: Takeshi Tsuruno has done so many stuff outside of his role as Asuka, not to mention that he's a singer himself. He has done two versions of the show's ending theme, "Kimi Dake o Mamoritai"; a first one as a single in the album "Tsuruno Oto", and a second version is included in the original soundtrack for Ultraman Saga. More recently in 2021, he gets to do the theme song of Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger.
  • Irony As He Is Cast: Takeshi Tsuruno, who played the athletic Shin Asuka, isn't athletic in real life, which made filming action scenes quite difficult. From Ultraman Gaia onward, Tsuburaya Productions would start casting athletic actors for the leading roles to prevent a repeat situation.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Shin Asuka's actor, Takeshi Tsuruno is a fan of Ultraman 80!
  • Prop Recycling:
    • Golza's reappearance is the original suit from Tiga with a new head.
    • Surprisingly, averted with Captain Zoyaka, who is made from an entirely new suit rather than that of the original Regulan.
    • Neosaurus is a heavily modified Dexador.
    • Imitation Dyna's suit was recycled into a second Miracle Type suit. This is an inversion of the usual process, where an Imitation Ultraman's suit is usually recycled from a spare costume of the original.
    • Terranoid is a modified Strong Type suit.
    • Gaigareid was made from Gyabish.
    • Prometheus is a remodeled Sky Shark.
  • Role Reprise: Many actors from Ultraman Tiga reprise their characters in this series, including Hiroshi Nagano and Takami Yoshimoto appearing as Daigo and Rena in the finale.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Hanejiro was originally going to be named Pamu, but the name had to be changed for copyright reasons.
    • There were plans for Gazote to reappear in episode 19, but he was ultimately replaced with Kokakucho when the writers remembered that the Critters had left Earth in episode 28 of Ultraman Tiga.
    • The Spheres were originally meant to be the main antagonists of "The Krakov Won't Surface!". While they were first replaced with the Digon, the producers felt having a humanoid race of aliens as the antagonists was too straightforward and made them the servants of Spume instead.
    • The Spheres were planned to be wiped out in "The Krakov Won't Surface!", with Alien Chern replacing them as the main antagonists of the series from episode 27 onwards, but the decision to have the Spheres remain as the Big Bad resulted in Alien Chern only appearing within episode 27.
