  • The film was originally meant to be an anthology of three stories, a la the movie version of The Twilight Zone, with two stories featuring kaiju from the original series and a story starring a brand new one. However, Sega, one of the companies funding the film and the one making the tie in toyline, forced them to use only one new creature; the toy rights to the original show and its kaiju were at the time owned by Bandai, and Sega wasn't keen on giving them free money.
