• Acting in the Dark: Cast members for the finale weren't allowed to read the whole script, only their own parts, and didn't see the episode in its entirety until premiere day. Strangely enough, this was even made true for the audience, with the whole episode being shot out of sequence with the audience only glimpsing pieces of scenes instead of a full day's shoot.
• What Could Have Been: Chuck Lorre's Vanity Plate at the end card explains that Charlie Sheen had been approached about making a legitimate appearance in the episode. The episode would've played out as normal up to Charlie ringing the doorbell at the end, to which he would've turned around and given the audience a huge rant about the dangers of drug use and why he was invincible... before being killed by the piano. According to Lorre, Sheen hated the idea and instead tried to suggest a different more heartfelt ending that would've led to Charlie and Alan starring in a new show called "The Harpers".
