List of Changes from the Original Game

  • Copyright screen now displays "2016: TPP" above the Game Freak and Nintendo credits. (though no copyright symbol, due to the project's status as a derivative work)
  • Title screen altered.
  • Dialogue altered.
  • On the start of a new game, there is a new prologue segment where the game begins in Kanto, ala Red, Green, Blue, & Yellow, following the path of those games up until the S.S. Anne is boarded. Team Rocket hijacks the boat, only for it to crash. The game then starts in Johto as per usual.
  • A special event character, Burglar Simon, has been added and appears throughout the game.
  • Event flags and sequences have been altered. For example, Pryce's gym in Mahogany Town is now the intended 5th Gym in Johto, and the Team Rocket subplot occurs by that point to enforce it.
  • The Kanto Rival is now the true Champion after Lance, in a similar manner to Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow.
  • Several new areas have been added to Kanto and post-game.
  • Certain areas usually have changes ported over from the Gen IV remakes HeartGold & SoulSilver. This includes BGM changes and map layout changes.
  • Experience point gains are now identical to Gen VI standards. All Pokemon who participate in battle gain the same EXP.
  • HM and TM distribution has been modified in accordance with the remakes and Gen VI.
  • Physical/Special split added.
  • New moves from Gen III and onward have been added, reusing older move animations.
  • Sound Test added for both sound effects and music.
  • Ability to switch between the original, slow HP bar drain rate, which is a bug, or a more "proper" fast one, which is how the HP bar was meant to operate and how it performs from Gen III onwards.
