Trivia / Treasure Island (1988)

  • Approval of God: In the early 2020's, when Russian-speaking internet users started the resurgence of Dr. Livesey memes that eventually exploded worldwide in 2022, Livesey's voice actor, Evgeniy Papernyy, expressed his enthusiasm for the character's new popularity, attributing it to his infectious optimism and being the ideal masculine figure.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, the voice of John Silver, was a prominent film, TV, and stage actor, and so he received top billing, though he was no stranger to voice acting by the time of this movie.
  • Cut Song: Several songs were recorded for the movie but didn't make the cut. Also, John Silver's melancholy Villain Song only plays its sung chorus in the finale, leaving the three verses unused. Additionally, the Song about Bobby was originally going to be about... teen pregnancy?
  • Non-Singing Voice: Georgiy Kishko voiced Blind Pew and Grigoriy Tolchinskiy voiced Black Dog for their speaking scenes, but for the "Bobby" song, Viktor Andrienko (Smollett and Billy Bones) apparently sang for both characters, if his website is to be believed, and if so, that would also make this an example of Acting for Two for that scene.
  • Translation Correction: Because Trelawny's manservants were Adapted Out, the original Russian version had a small Series Continuity Error: in the first part, Smollett proclaims they're outnumbered seven to nineteen (as it was in the book), when in the second part it turns into "four against nineteen", as it actually is. The mistake was fixed in the English dub.
  • Voiced Differently in the Dub: In the original Russian, Dr. Livesey has a deep, hearty and jovial voice. The English dub instead gives him a high-pitched and raspy voice with a thick Received Pronunciation accent.
