  • Acting for Two: Billy West voiced a lot of characters in this game.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Michel Ancel was inspired by Day of the Tentacle and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
  • No Export for You: The Game Boy Color version is only available on Europe.
  • Release Date Change: The game was supposed to come out in 1997 but got delayed twice from 1998 to 1999, just before the release of Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
  • Stillborn Franchise: There was a planned sequel but got cancelled following the game’s failure.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda: It was stated that this game was made as a way to understand 3D game development to make Rayman 2: The Great Escape, This was later refuted by many of the staff including Michel Ancel who worked on the game.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • As seen in the PC Special Edition release as part of software bundles shipped with graphics cards, and cereal boxes. (Which is the early alpha version of the game.) The game would have been vastly different with tank controls and has visuals more akin to Alice and Wonderland with playing card imagery.
    • As mentioned above there were plans for a sequel titled Tonic Adventure but the idea was scrapped due to the game's failure with the only existence being the game's concept art by Yann Jouette.
    • There was going to be PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast ports, but it got canned following the game's financial failure.
    • A Japanese version of the game was originally going to be released, but ended up being cancelled, with only a Japanese audio track of the intro cutscene and a promo poster being released.
  • Working Title: The game had around 12 early names, Most known examples are "Hed" and before that "Ed" and finally "Tonic Trouble" after Ubisoft held a contest for the games name.
