Trivia / Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: During his acting seminars, Tairy Greene (played by Zach Galifinakis) stands between two ferns.
  • Cast the Expert: Whoopsie Goldberg is played by Shon Vaughn, a professional Whoopi Goldberg impersonator.
  • Colbert Bump: David Liebe Hart, as host of The Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson Program, was already a cult favorite but received wider exposure through appearances on the show.
  • Creator Backlash: Heidecker has gone on to admit that he feels a bit of guilt over the episode Robin Williams: At the time, the duo felt that Robin Williams was releasing substandard work, and that he was taking attention away from younger and newer comedians, leading to the episode making fun of Robin's stereotypical mannerisms. After that episode aired, Tim saw World's Greatest Dad and thought it was brilliant, changing his mind on Robin and feeling bad about the episode. Thankfully Tim and Robin were able to connect and even work together before his passing, with Robin even praising Tim for his role in The Comedy.
  • Creator-Chosen Casting: A truly bizarre example. Many sketches don't feature professional actors—instead, Heidecker and Wareheim would quite literally post ads on Craigslist looking for people to appear on the show for a one-time paycheck. Presumably they deliberately chose people who possessed the least experience and comfort on camera, given how awkward so many of the performers appear.
  • The Danza: Will Forte as Will Grello.
  • Enforced Method Acting: This is the reason why guests look so uncomfortable on camera. Not only are they not professional actors, they tell the guests what to do right before they say "action" so they don't have enough time to process the directions. And while they were filming a commercial for season 4, they told the cameraman to zoom in, but the woman on screen didn't know where the camera was, so she kept making funny faces.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The original version of the "Dream Cream" sketch featured an actual child in the role of the "beautiful boy" in Pierre's dream. When the boy's mother saw the episode, she was outraged (neither she nor the child had been told the content of the script) and demanded that Heidecker and Wareheim remove her son from all reruns. They obliged and created a terrifying CGI boy instead. As such, the only way to see the sketch as it first appeared is through video sharing sites.
  • Throw It In!: The scene in the "Pussy Doodles" sketch where the cat slips out of the harness and David Cross starts crying was unscripted.
    • Later in the sketch where the director jumps in joy and the cat runs out of David's hands, the "Ouch!" he gives was because the cat legitimately scratched him before jumping off.
  • What Could Have Been: "Gettin' It Dunn", a spinoff that would have starred Richard Dunn instead of John C. Reilly. The idea was discussed for a while and in 2009 one episode was filmed, but since then Richard has passed away so unfortunately there's no chance of a full series.
