- Follow the Leader: The game would have never existed without the success of Vikings and The Last Kingdom which have the same subject matter, characters and setting as Thrones of Britannia.
- Screwed by the Network: Despite Creative Assembly's patch support for the game, some fans felt that the game was left high and dry due to the absence of gameplay DLC. This was more evident when A Total War Saga: TROY was released in August 2020 with plans for gameplay DLC announced along with the release.
