• Children Voicing Children: All the teens in the cast are played by actual teenagers; it was the first musical to have such a cast.
• Cut Song: Despite being on the cast album, "Here I come" and "Opportunity" were cut from the Broadway production, although "Opportunity" was put back in the most recent version, released by MTI.
• Dawson Casting: Majorly averted with the Broadway production. The older cast member was Eric Nelsen as Brett, who was 17.
• Promoted Fanboy: Aaron Simon Gross is a Jason Robert Brown/Musical Theater fanboy. A production held at Jason Robert Brown's old theater camp, French Woods, were this when the man himself supervised it.
• Romance on the Set: Ariana Grande and Graham Phillips used to date. They even recorded a duet.
