• Pop-Culture Urban Legends: A rumor appears to have persisted for several years, both on Wikipedia and on this wiki, that a previous edition of the book contained creatures called "the Red under the bed" and "the Burnace in the furnace" which had to be removed because they were too scary, and that the "Vug under the rug" was also removed for this reason. The Vug is still in the present edition, while the Red and the Burnace were never in any version.
