- Actor-Shared Background: She portrayed fellow Puerto Rican wrestler A.J. Lee in Fighting with My Family. Both she and AJ are also married to fellow wrestlers who happen to be known for being covered in tattoos and doing Indian-style sitting, though this case seems more coincidental. More sadly, both were also told they weren't attractive enough to be in pro wrestling.
- Approval of God: AJ Lee gave her approval to Thea being cast as her, joking "I've never looked hotter" when it was announced.
- Fake Nationality: She is Puerto Rican, but portrayed a Mexican in TNA.
- Funny Character, Boring Actor: Inverted. Rosita wasn't very exciting on her own, but Thea is hilarious and very down-to-earth off-camera.
- I Am Not Leonard Nimoy: Even though she's had notable runs in both TNA and WWE, she's more likely to be called by her real name rather than Rosita (in TNA) or Zelina Vega (in WWE). Wikipedia does however refer to her as Zelina Vega.
- Irony as She Is Cast:
- Despite being associated during most of her career with acts that used the Spanish language, she's actually not well-versed in that language (by the time she was in WWE, she knew some basic phrases per interviews). This is more notorious when managing Andrade; while she handles most of his talking in English, Andrade himself (a Mexican born and raised) speaks in Spanish when needed.
- Her portrayal of A.J. Lee in Fighting with My Family to some extent, as Thea is a cat owner while AJ is a dog owner. And more obviously, she was a rising talent not even employed by WWE when she filmed her part, playing the biggest star in the division at that point.
- Promoted Fangirl: She watched wrestling with her father, Michael since she was very young. Sadly, Michael was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Rey Mysterio Jr., Lita and The Rock are a few of her inspirations. (She eventually got to work alongside Mysterio during his feud with Andrade in WWE and later a manager of Latino World Order, and The Rock in the film Fighting with My Family.)
- Downplayed slightly at the 2022 Royal Rumble she would be introduced by Neil Kaplan the voice Madara from Naruto
- She would also land a role as a commentator in Street Fighter 6.
- Role-Ending Misdemeanor: In 2020, WWE banned its talent from running their own accounts on third-party sites such as Twitch or YouTube (despite the Insistent Terminology that they were "independent contractors"). Thea ignored this and set up an Only Fans account, which resulted in a firing for "breach of contract". note

- Separated-at-Birth Casting: Her portrayal of A.J. Lee in Fighting with My Family is widely acclaimed due to their similar built and sounding almost the same. Lee's husband CM Punk even jokes that the casting directors did a good job finding someone who is "as short as his wife".
