Trivia / The X-Files S03 E07 "The Walk"

Go To

  • Executive Meddling: Mulder's final speech was originally a much more pointed commentary on the Persian Gulf War, specifically mentioning that Rappo was wounded by friendly fire (which isn't mentioned in the finished episode) and comparing it to the country's treatment of its servicemen and veterans. This was apparently more political than Fox felt comfortable with, and network executives ordered the speech to be rewritten.
  • Hostility on the Set: Rob Bowman felt uncomfortable filming the scene where General Callahan's son is buried in his sandbox, because a close friend of his had lost his son in a similar accident not long before. He argued with writer John Shiban about the scene, asking if it could be rewritten. When Shiban refused, the two had a heated argument, with Bowman demanding to know "Why do we have to kill kids anyway?" He shot the scene under protest after Chris Carter sided with Shiban, encouraging Bowman to film it as non-exploitatively as possible.
  • You Look Familiar: Don Thompson (Lt. Col. Stans) previously played Holtzman in Season One's "Conduit" and Henry Willig in Season Two's "Sleepless", would later have an uncredited appearance in Season Five's "The Pine Bluff Variant".
