• Missing Episode: Schmitz wrote a sequel, Karres Venture, but it was never published and the draft manuscript is believed to have been lost in a house move. One USENET post claims it would have been "basically a chase story all the way through".
• Outlived Its Creator: Over twenty years after the author's death, Baen Books published three sequels: The Wizard of Karres by Eric Flint, Dave Freer, and Mercedes Lackey, The Sorceress of Karres by Eric Flint and Dave Freer, and The Shaman of Karres by Eric Flint and Dave Freer.
