• Enforced Method Acting: Word of God confirmed to get the reaction out of Janel Moloney they wanted when Donna finds out Josh has been shot, they told her Bradley Whitford had been shot.
• First Appearance: Of Anna Deavere Smith as Nancy McNally.
• Production Posse: Anna Deavere Smith played Robin McCall in The American President.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, there was supposed to be more footage of Josh being treated at the scene by paramedics. This was all incorporated into the Christmas episode "Noel".
• You Look Familiar: Andy Umberger appeared in "Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc" as Stevie, an aide to Vice President Hoynes. Since in this episode the character he plays and his team are fired from Bartlet's campaign (at least one of whom is identified as Steve by Leo) and are later replaced by the senior staff we're familiar with, the implication is that he's the same character and went to work for Hoynes' failed campaign for President after Josh quit to work for Bartlet.
