  • Real Song Theme Tune: "Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. Dr. Synthesis' voice, as an imitation of the main singer, seems to be a Shout-Out to this song.
  • What Could Have Been: Many sound effects and dialogue were altered or removed before the game was released to tone down the dark nature of the game and keep it relatively kid-friendly. Some of Gahan's dialogue clears up Gahan's vague motivation from the final game, but was also seen as far too dark for children, and was thus censored before release. A fan-made patch was later created to restore much of the cut content from the game.
    • Some of the monsters' attacking sounds were toned down to make them less scary. Oddly, the zombie's beta attack sound remained in the game as part of the ingame tutorial.
    • In a shortened line of dialogue during transitions, Igor outright calls Gahan a demon or a "hellspawn".
    • Originally, the evil Gahan explicitly wanted the player's soul, and several cut lines of dialogue cleared up Gahan's motivation for keeping the player alive during monster attacks as well as keeping the wandering denizens of the house around. Specifically, he sees Herbert/Chauncey and Dr. Synthesis as useful to capture more souls, the child Byron's soul is too innocent and thus useless to him, and Countess Vena Cava has no soul to take. He even screams that he needs the player's soul if the player manages to escape, and gloats "Your Soul Is Mine!" if the player fails.
