The Once and Future King
- Acting for Two: Jeff Yagher plays both Gary Pitkin and the young Elvis Presley. Except for Lisa Jane Persky as his manager/fan Sandra, he is the only actor to appear in more than one scene.
- Backed by the Pentagon: "The cooperation of the Elvis Presley Estate and Elvis Presley Enterprises is greatly appreciated". This cooperation presumably extends to licensing his likeness and the rights to all his songs (though they are performed by a soundalike).
- Dawson Casting:
- Jeff Yagher, age 26, plays the 19-year-old Elvis Presley, as well as Gary, who is clearly meant to be in his very early 20s at the oldest. Subverted when he later plays the older Gary/Elvis in his forties.
- Lisa Jane Persky, age 30, plays her character's 18-year-old self in a flashback.
- Non-Singing Voice: Jeff Yagher provides Gary's - and Elvis' - speaking voices, but their singing voices are provided by Ronnie McDowell.

- In Memoriam: The episode is dedicated to the memory of Theodore Sturgeon, who passed away in 1985.
