Trivia / The Twilight Zone (1959) S1E19: "The Purple Testament"

• Reality Subtext: There is some discussion about whether or not the episode's broadcast was delayed due to William Reynolds and Richard Bare (the star and director, respectively) being caught up in a plane crash (various sources claim it was, but no real evidence exists for that claim). Both survived; Bare would later mention talking to Reynolds as they swam for their lives, asking him what was playing that night, and on being told "The Purple Testament", shouted, "Bill, don't look at me!"
• Write What You Know: This episode was inspired by Rod Serling's experience of fighting in the Philippines during World War II.
