Trivia / The Tigger Movie

Go To

  • Creator's Favorite Episode: This is Jim Cummings' favourite of all the productions where he's voiced Tigger.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: McDonald's released a set of plush clip-ons of Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, and Roo in Tigger outfits in their Happy Meals in the US. A slightly different plush-only set was offered in Europe, with only Pooh and Piglet wearing Tigger apparel and Eeyore wearing a Santa hat. The European set also featured Rabbit, Kanga, and Gopher instead of Owl.
  • Misaimed Marketing: The original theatrical trailer used the opening refrain of the song "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind, a bouncy, energetic song… filled with references to sex and drugs. An unnamed Disney spokeswoman had said that she was unaware of the song's content.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • While Jim Cummings had filled in for Paul Winchell many times as Tigger, from this film onwards, he is the character's permanent voice actor.
    • Kath Soucie also takes over as Kanga for the first time, replacing Tress MacNeille.
    • In the Latin American Spanish dub, Jorge Alberto Aguilera replaced Raúl de la Fuente as the de facto voice of the narrator.
  • The Other Marty: As noted above, Paul Winchell was originally supposed to voice Tigger in the film, but Jim Cummings ended up permanently taking over the role due to Winchell's voice being deemed too weak and raspy to perform as Tigger anymore.
  • Recycled Premise: The movie's story bears uncanny resemblance to The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh episode "Owl in the Family", wherein the title character starts to question whether their family are real and holds a family reunion, with the others disguising themselves as such to cheer him up (in the latter's case however, Owl's family predictably turned out to be real, the same aimless invitation method from the movie even reaches them).
  • What Could Have Been: Paul Winchell was originally planned to reprise his role as Tigger. However, after the first rehearsal in 1998, Winchell was turned down by Disney, claiming his voice had become too worn and raspy to replicate the character anymore. Prior to the film's release however, Winchell did get to reprise Tigger in the A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving holiday special, the A Valentine for You holiday special, and was brought back for one final hurrah as Tigger afterwards in the Walt Disney World The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride.
  • Working Title: Winnie the Pooh and the Family Tree.
